Rejoice in Today!

One thing that I recently decided I was going to get back into was running. That is never an easy process, literally, this morning was the first day! It is never really an easy process to get back into something that you used to do. But why is that? Why is it that when you try to do something that you used to do, you end up running into all sorts of problems?

There are some challenges that we run into when we try to do something we used to do once upon a time. For example, we don't have that initial push to do it. Anytime we do something for the first time we have this little high that we get saying, "oh man! This is going to be awesome!" But when you stop doing it and try to get back into it, you have this guilt for not doing a lot stronger than the excitement of starting. When I was in college, I remember I used to get up every day and go running into the morning consistently. Now trying to do it all I'm thinking about is how I wish I would have kept up. then I wouldn't be so sluggish when it came to doing it.

Another challenge that isn't the greatest is judging yourself and where you are at. It sucked when this morning I ran and I couldn't do what I used to do before. it felt like I had weights on my shoulders when before it was so easy. But it doesn't make any sense for me to just say, "well since I am not able to do what I did before, I might as well give up." that is just crazy talk.

I don't know what you stopped doing but God is calling you back to. It might be taking care of your health. It might be taking care of your spirituality or giving your all when it comes to your relationship with your family, children, or spouse. A word to just encourage you on your journey. is this Psalm 118:24 tells us that today is the day that the Lord has made, so let's rejoice. Today we are given the opportunity to start or restart anything that we have begun.

Praise the Lord that we can start today. If we have wasted time, that is okay we can begin today and praise the Lord for it! Praise God we have today, Praise the Lord that we can start on our health today, that we can start on our relationships today, that we can start on our relationship with Him today. It doesn't mean that it will be easy. It was not easy for me to go running this morning, but it was worth it. In the same way, it won't be easy, but it will be worth it. Let us rejoice in the chance that we have to start today on the day the Lord made. Blessings to you and Happy Week.
